LOTR: Battle Report - SBG Ilithien Attack

"There are no travelers in this land...

...only servants of the Dark Lord."

LOTR: Battle Report - SBG Ilithien Attack

This week again saw Craig and I pit Mordor against Gondor in an epic 750 point battle.  For a scenario we chose to look the Mordor held Ilithien region.  Craig brought Boromir, Faramir, Damrod as well as warriors of Minas Tirith and Rangers of Ilithien.

My Mordor army was also themed with Shelob venturing out in serach of sweeter meat, escorted by Gorbag and his Morgul Rats and a rabble of orcs and warg riders.

In this latest LotR SBG battle report from East Grinstead Wargamers the battle raged on for nearly three hours, but who was victories... Gondor or Mordor?

LotR: Warg bows hide in the ruins picking off Gondor...
or not as they don't seem to be able to hit anything other than the wall!

LotR: Gorbag arrives on the left flank as Gondor struggle to hold

LotR: Boromir and his warriors join the fight

LotR: both Mordor and Gondor take casualties

LotR: Boromir sends warriors to face the warg bows,
but the replace the wall as pin cushions

LotR: Mordor Orcs (who forgot to advance) still provide volley fire

LotR: Mordors warg riders are dwindling fast and
cant keep loosing priority

LotR: With two Warriors bowed own the warg riders feel
invincible...

LotR: Both Gondor and Mordor are taking heavy losses

LotR: Mordor Shaman casts transfix on Boromir and his is stuck

LotR: Mordor Volley fire still has minimal hits and
takes no more casualties

LotR: Warg riders eye up Boromir and fancy their chances!

LotR:  And in they charge... fools! (one even fell off his warg)

LotR: Gondor's flank finally falls

LotR: Mordor try to mop up.

With no more time left, we added the casualties... Gondor had lost over half of its force, Mordor a third - but the scenario was to reduce the opponent to a quarter of it's starting size and as neither of us successfully completed it we decided to call it a draw.

I hoped you enjoyed the battle report - please join the site and get up dates on more to come soon.

We are about to start playing LOTR SBG - both skirmish battles and walk through the books/films each Monday night and WotR on club nights.
