So - at the time of playing the Shadow and Sorcery tournament was due the following weekend at the London Titans club, Sam, Thomas and I set about an afternoon of quick fire, winner stays on battle.  We each had two armies (350 points), but if you stayed on, then you kept the army...
...Lets see how we got on in the first (1) of these battles!

We rolled to see who played first, losing from the off set it was Tom with his Galadhrim vs Sam and his Hunter Orc army.

As always - I hope you enjoy:

Tom deploys his Galadhrim on the board edge,
and having won priority sets about moving the spider queen closer to his army...
all those bows!

Sam's Hunter orc army (with Cave Drake)
comes on from the side and looks set to charge across the field to the elves

Fimbul the Hunter moves half to take a shotn

BAM! Fimbul kills a Galadhrim with a single shot!

The dead Galadhrim

Tom sets his sights (and his Galadhrim's) on getting the points for the spider queen,
and continues to inflict damage as he moves her away from the Hunter orcs,
the
Galadhrim bows finish her off and Tom takes the points

Tom's Galadhrim hold and let Sam run across the field

Sam's hunter warg riders charge froward to take the Galadhrim bow shots,
whilst the Cave Drake and infantry continue to move towards them

Fimbul is dismounted and another rider is killed

Tom moves a few Galadhrim to get ready for the assault

The cave drake lumbers forward and looks formiddable

Hunter orcs still trying to get to the Galadhrim

More Galadhrim shooting and Fimbul is killed, as well as the other wargs!

Galadhrim hold and wait for the Drake and orcs

The cave drake runs towards the Galadhrim line...

...with orcs to the side

Galadhrim and orcs clash

The Galadhrim try to trap the Cave Drake

Legolas and Haldir keep firing at the Drake

Time for the Galadhrim to charge

The drake in combat with the elves

Galadhrim score wounds on the Drake

The hunter orcs charge the flank to protect the Drake

Both sides are engaged in tough fighting...
but the defense and fight value of the elves seems to be paying off

Another round of combat on the Cave Drake

And the fighting is at it's peak

The Galadhrim seem to be winning, and it even looks like the hunter orcs have turned to run

Both side re-engage as another round is started

This tense battle is far from over

The Galadhrim continue to smash at the Drake

The Hunter Orcs get the upper hand on the east flank...

...but not on the west

Galadhrim start to mop up and set their sights on the Drake yet again

The Galadhrim surround the Drake, hoping for the kill - otherwise they face a corner beast...

All orcs to help...

...but no, the Galadhrim the Drake and end the game
So with a win for Tom's Galadhrim - he stays on and I field my Khazad army led by Gimli.

  1. The battle reports you post are always entertaining; elven archery surely paid off!

  2. meh. park'n'shoot armies are annoying - and I say that as an elf player (who advances while firing and still wipes the board). Good effort by the orcs.

  3. Cheers guys, Sam certainly tried to take the fight to the elves, but as you can see, the bows whittled them down before the fight to put the advantage firmly in the hands of the elves, I will post part 2 of 3 soon, so keep watching!

  4. Having been on the receiving end of elven bowfire on many an occasion, I was cheering the drake on , but it was not to be... did it win any combat rounds at all? if so did it try any brutal power effects?

  5. Hi Scott against the elves.... No, the Drake didn't - but there are another 2 bat reps to post from this day, so keep an eye out as the drake will make another appearance
